How can Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) and their communities be empowered to drive change in the energy crisis and achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)?
The ABCinEnergy project was designed to find answers to this important question. By equipping HEI management with the necessary tools, the project aims to enable them to initiate actions, manage, and monitor the impact of their community’s efforts. Through training and support, the HEI community will gain the capacity to influence and achieve the strategic objectives outlined in their Sustainability Strategies. To accomplish this, ABCinEnergy has set the following goals:
- Ensuring the effective implementation of sustainability strategies in European universities.
- Developing internal tools that allow universities to monitor, measure, and educate their communities on energy consumption behaviours and their impact on sustainability.
- Empowering the university community with lasting habits and skills to foster environmental change.
These objectives align closely with the identified priorities to address environmental and climate change challenges in a strategic and sustainable manner at HEIs, with a strong emphasis on utilising digital tools. As a result, the project will support the advancement of both digital and green capabilities within the higher education sector.
